this week was aaaaaamazing. seriously it was so good.
everyday we saw miracles! I will go day by day because it was just that great.
so on Monday after p-day, we went and saw Kayla! It was so
good to see her and her family again. They told us about El Salvador and how it
was and what they bought. We talked to Kayla forever and she is going SO good.
We think El Salvador really helped her see a different perspective of life, the
poverty is crazy over there and it really hit her. But she bore her testimony
sooooo strongly about service and how we have to be there for people who really
need our testimonies. She has grown so much and we are so excited for her! the
next step for her is the temple and we are determined to get her whole family
there!
on Tuesday we had one of the funniest experiences of my
mission with Hna. Regalado. long story short, we were on the front porch of
Jose's house to go in and teach him and she peed her pants and sat through a
lesson with a huge dark spot on her pants. oh grandmas. the lesson went super
well though. Hna. Regalado has such a strong testimony and really helped Jose
understand why he needs to pray to know if this is all true.
Wednesday, we had interviews with President and he changed
my life, like always. He said something that I will never forget and that I
have been thinking a lot about lately. He said, "I want you to work so
hard these last 13 weeks of your mission that I have to carry you on the plane
to go home because you will be so tired" I’m determined to do so!!!! that
night we went caroling with some Young Women in another ward in our stake. we
are doing three nights of caroling with our stake and so we pumped them up for
missions when people rejected us when we knocked on the door to sing. I love
the youth!
On Thursday we had an amazing lesson with Kayla's mom, Hna.
Ortiz. It was one of the most powerful lessons I have ever had on my mission.
we went over there with Hna. Vanegas (family friend of theirs who is such a
strong member). We went over to talk to Kayla AND her mom but Kayla had a super
bad headache so we only ended up talking to Hna. Ortiz which was a miracle in
disguise. Everything was so put together by Heavenly Father that night. We were
outside for a while waiting for Hna. Vanegas
to get there. We just decided to go in, so we prayed in the car and
specifically prayed for Hna. Vanegas to get there safely. We lifted our heads
and she pulls into the driveway. We go and knock on the door and no one answers
the door. We call Kayla, no one answers. We call Hna. Ortiz, no one answers. We
started to apologize to Hna. Vanegas for coming all the way here and then Hna.
Ortiz drives up on her driveway and we go in and talk. During the lesson, Hna.
Ortiz was crying during the whole lesson and Hna. Vanegas shared such a strong
and bold testimony about the Sacrament and how we need to go every single week
to renew our baptism covenants. Why wouldnt we want to get baptized every
sunday?! It was amazing and it really hit Hna. Ortiz. Heavenly Father's plan is
amazing.
On Friday, we had dinner at Chili's with one of our members
we dont get to see very often. We ate and then we asked her if she had given out the #lighttheworld pass-along cards we
gave her. She said no so we decided to do a role play with her right there. So
we practiced her going up to someone and giving them a card. We practiced,
prayed and we were getting out of the booth when we saw her go up to a guy
sitting alone at a table and give him a card. She was just glowing. It was the
perfect moment. As missionaries we dont teach members to do missionary work, we
teach them HOW.
Saturday we went caroling with the other sisters in a neighborhood
and gave out pass-along cards. So many people said they were so grateful for us
because no one carols anymore! There was even a lady who took a video of us
caroling and said she would put it on Facebook with our church! wooo! earlier
that day, we helped Hna. Regalado make cookies and it was of course a blast. we
love our little grandma.
Sunday was a MIRACLE DAY! Jose went to church!!!! He came
all dressed up and everything! We were a little nervous because it was stake
conference so it wasnt just a regular sunday and all of the branch was in a
little room watching a broadcast with translation. It was just a little messy
and not normal. We were just a little scared what he would think. But when the
first speaker started talking about her conversion story, we knew he was
supposed to be there. She literally has the same story that Jose has right now.
She said she was really sick, had depression and had to get a lot of surgeries
and was in a dark place when the missionaries knocked on her door and changed
her life. I started crying in that moment because I knew that talk was just for
him. All of the members loved Jose and have plans to see him this week. It was
so good. That night we went to a tri-stake Christmas concert and we saw the
lady who gave the talk and told her what an impact she had with our
investigator. She almost started crying and she is the coolest lady so we took
a picture with her!
This week was an amazing week and we are so grateful that
people's hearts are softening. We are so grateful for this time of year and how
happy it is. People are progressing so well in our area and it makes everything
worth it! I'm so happy I get to finish my mission here in this area! I couldnt
love it more!
thank you so much for the christmas cards! they make my day!
